Benoni, Coachella, CA “I wish to have a computer”Benoni is an energetic young man who has special ways of communicating. He expresses himself with his eyes, his smile or by clapping when he is happy. For his wish, he wanted to have a laptop that would be able to verbalize what he wants to say. After much research, it was decided that the best computer for him would be the HP TouchSmart laptop. This special computer has a built-in swivel touch screen. When Benoni touches the picture on it, the computer says what is on the screen, and lets people know what he wants to communicate to them. On his wish day, Benoni and his whole family were excited to see his new communication device. They knew that this computer would open up a whole new world for him. Once his laptop was set up, he was ready to sit down and try all the features. He smiled, laughed and clapped while he touched each picture and heard the corresponding word. For the first time, he was able to verbally let people know exactly what he wanted to eat and how he was feeling. This special laptop has changed Benoni’s life and the way he communicates.
