"I wish to visit my great-grandmothers in Alabama"

Calvin, a ten-year-old aspiring Lakers'' basketball player with sickle cell anemia, had a family-oriented wish. He wished to visit his two great-grandmothers in Bessemer, Alabama because he had not seen them in more than two years.

When Calvin arrived in Birmingham, he was greeted by the Mayor of Bessemer, Alabama. As Calvin walked outside, the local news was there to report on his reunion with one of his great grandmothers. Calvin clapped and laughed and fell to his knees in excitement when he saw his great-grandmother. Calvin and his family then traveled by a stretch limousine, followed by a police escort procession, to see his second great-grandmother. As the limousine arrived at Calvin’s great-grandmother’s house, the road was blocked off and another news and police escort team watched on as Calvin reunited with his second great-grandmother.

The following day, Calvin’s family went to Georgia to go to Six Flags. Unfortunately, Calvin was hospitalized in Georgia. When his doctor finally told him he was well enough to go to Six Flags, Calvin instead decided to uphold his commitment to his great-grandmothers and go to church with them.

After church, Calvin presented his great-grandmothers with appreciation certificates, bringing them both to tears. He later pampered them with an all-you-can-eat dinner.

Since Calvin’s wish, he can’t stop telling his wish story. Calvin and his wish certainly left an impact in Bessemer, Alabama- the local newspaper also published a story on his wish! Calvin already has a head start on living the celebrity life when his bigger wish of becoming an NBA star comes true!
